LA - Farewell and Much Love

After almost a weeks-worth of excitement in LA, how do you end it all? Our original plan was to go roller coaster crazy at Magic Mountain, but after a morning of packing Etsy items, catching up on chores, and running errands, we decided to take a much different route. We started the day with a thrifty jaunt to Goodwill and St. Vincent's. I found a few books to drop off at the neighborhood Little Free Library and we went off for lunch at Leela Thai.

Then we made appointments for a day at the spa. It sounded like the perfect way to decompress after days of running around. Shana's friend suggested Olympic Spa in Koreatown. Shana forewarned me that I had to be comfortable with nudity because it was a traditional Korean spa where ladies walked around with little or nothing. When we arrived, it took a little getting used to but once I saw bodies of all shapes, sizes, colors, and ages I got a little more settled in. Shana got the Pure Bliss package while I got treated to reflexology and a facial. My favorite part of the whole experience was reclining on the heated jade floors before and after my treatment. We left the spa feeling all shiny and new. On the way back to her home, we dropped the books off at the Little Free Library.

Back at home, I got to meet Shana's favorite neighbor CJ who was an absolute sweetheart. We got to hear the dramatic story of how CJ and his wife saved a litter of kittens from a hole in the ground. We got to play with one of his lanky kitties before heading back in the house to prep for the flight home.

For our last meal, we headed to Little Dom's for their Monday Night Supper special. For just $15 you get a great salad, entree, and dessert at this neighborhood hot spot. We met up with Shana's pals Adreanne and Neil. From salad to the chocolatey dessert, we enjoyed every bite of the meal. It was great spending my last moments in LA with good eats and Shana's friends. We said our goodbyes, hopped in the car, and headed to straight to LAX.

much love
I enjoyed every moment of my time in LA with Shana. Museums, meals, massages...it was all fabulous! It's hard to put into words the amount of love and appreciation I have for my sis. After years of ups and downs, it feels so good to know that we both grew into adults that can truly support and care for one another and have a GREAT time together as well. At LAX we said our goodbyes and I hopped on the red eye back to Connecticut. I couldn't have asked for a better trip!
a warm welcome home
Now that I'm back on the east coast, I'm hitting the ground running. Today I drive Thom's band Burnkit2600 to the airport. They are flying off to Portland, OR to do a show at Backspace Cafe and enjoy the area for a week.
